In this interactive discussion, coaching leaders will discuss how a systems approach for supporting coaches throughout their practice leads to stronger relationships, collaboration, and student growth. Facilitators will guide coaches, administrators, and division leaders as they calibrate and elevate their work through meaningful discussions centered around success factors for coaching.
It may be challenging to coach teachers who feel they don't need or won't benefit from your coaching. Guess what? It's okay. During this session, you'll learn how to work with teachers who don't want to work with you! Melanie will share strategies you should know to help you coach the uncoachable. Come learn the three levels of defensiveness, possible causes of the defensiveness, and coaching techniques to use when working with these types of teachers.

In this session, participants will engage with a tool that assesses our coaching system’s effectiveness within four broad categories. This presentation will outline how RCPS Literacy Coaches have implemented and communicated the Virginia Literacy Act (VLA) over the past four years. Instructional coaches will learn successful practices, including strategies for collaboration meetings, data analysis, and student reading plan discussions. The session will provide resources and foster discussions on collaboration approaches. Instructional coaches and school leaders will leave with practical tools for enhancing literacy practices and navigating the VLA’s requirements across various stakeholders.
